Global Value Chains (GVCs) have become an integral aspect of today’s global trade. Most products are no longer manufactured in one location and increasingly the trend is towards locating different stages of the production process across different countries.
The 7th Global Economic Summit, under the theme ‘Global Value Chains: Accelerating MSME Growth, Development and Sustainbility’ will deliberate on the opportunities and challenges for SMEs to enhance their participation in GVCs. It will also discuss the relevance of GVCs for overall economic growth and sustainable development.
The Summit will attempt to analyse the entire process of producing goods from raw materials to finished products, which is increasingly carried out wherever the necessary skills and materials are available at competitive cost and quality. It will explore opportunities for SMEs to extend beyond the local boundaries and encompass the markets in developing, emerging and developed economies, thereby integrating large and SME firms into the value chain.
